Post Duel 9800GTX or not?
Right I'm looking to either get another 9800GTX or a brand new card in the near future First of all what do you think would be the best option? And if I do decide to get another 9800 I need some help as most of the shops I buy off don’t do them anymore, and any time I find one new it’s still around £200+ and I was looking for a cheap option. I found this one on ebay, but mine is XFX and this isn’t. I read some were that that’s not a problem as long as other stuff is the same is this true? And what do I need to be the same?

Pretty sure I’ll need a new a new mobo too if I do go with two 9800, currently I have a abit ip35 pro. Is it worth doing all this or be better just to get a brand new card?

To get 10-15 % extra bust?

Not worth it. Sell it and you have some extra money for a 5870/5850, plus you can still use your old mobo.

EDIT: See : http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gami ... ,1702.html

Thanks for the advice. Yeah i think I'm going to get a new card and heatsink and over clock my quadcore. Might even keep my 9800 for a second comp down home, or maybe sell it to my brother so he can build one. Now the problem is choosing what card. The 5870 is nearly £100 dearer than the 5850 so wondering its worth spending that much more or putting it away towards saving for the next upgrade. Is the 5870 so much better than the 5850? And what about the nivida cards the GTX285 is around those prices

Here is comparison : 5850 vs 5870.

same goes with nvidia, buy 275 and oc it and you have better than 285.
But 200-series is yesterday, dont bother, wait for Fermi to appear
and then go with the better one.

Wait till may then decide as nvidia will have fermi out in force and ati will of dropped there prices alot. if ure real impatient then buy a 5850 then upgrade to xfire oh wait u cant oh well i guess u will have to wait until they both have dx11 cards out to bring the prices down. not to mention ure more than likely to be cpu bound anyway :P

my advice is always go for the best single card option you can afford with NO intention to sli/xfire it later unless it can be done for a tenner

as mentioned, you get nowhere near 200% performance of a single card

I have decided to just get a new single card, either a 5850 or wait for the new nivida ones to see if prices drop ect. I'll probably wait, but does any one know when they due out, i think i read March somewhere but not sure. Think I'll be looking to spend up to £250.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx represents the performance of one card.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx represents 100% scaling ie perfect cf or sli

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx represents 200% scaling damn if only :D

Right i think i will wait then, i should be able to last untill march, in the mean while i think i'll OC my quad core. how much could i OC it on just the stock heatsink and a really good case? ITs a 2.66 quad2core
